Geostructural Engineer
Subsurface Construction Company is a leading design-build geotechnical specialty contractor with offices located in Raleigh, NC and Greenville, SC. Specializing in the Southeast region, We design and implement solutions for various excavation support (SoE) and geotechnical foundation support issues, including soil nail walls, soldier pile walls, sheet pile walls, ground anchors, rock bolts, micro piles, auger cast piles, aggregate piers (stone columns), etc. Since 1995, Subsurface Construction Company has served as a dedicated partner to civil and geotechnical engineers, general contractors and owners for excavation support and deep foundations. We understand that successful projects and enduring relationships are built on a foundation of honesty and trust.
This position will apply technical knowledge to meet all stakeholder expectations for all design projects. The Engineer is to ensure that each completed project meets local codes, regulations, and quality standards and deliver structurally and geotechnically sound systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Create structural engineering designs, sketches, plans, specifications, and estimates for soil nail walls, soldier pile walls, sheet pile walls, ground anchors, rock bolts, micro piles, auger cast piles, aggregate piers, etc.
- Manage engineering designs from inception, ensuring adherence to project timelines, and quality standards.
- Provide recommendations for design and assist construction teams in helping to solve complex engineering problems.
- Participate in project start-up meetings to provide insight on design.
- Conduct geotechnical calculations using industry-standard software and engineering principles.
- Brainstorming with PMs, estimators and construction team and providing preliminary designs for bidding.
- Occasionally assisting in field work such as testing and on-site monitoring during construction.
- Participate in project debrief meetings to provide feedback on the project’s successes and challenges.
- Wear and maintain proper Personal Protective Equipment.
- Some travel to worksites may be required.
- Ensure timely and regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of employment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on structural or geotechnical engineering, Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in structural and/or geotechnical engineering.
- Ability ot obtain a Professional Engineering license within 2 years.
- AutoCAD working knowledge.
- Experience with geotechnical analysis software (Snail, Slope-W, L-Pile, Group), preferred.
- Possess excellent oral and written communications skills, a positive attitude, effective time management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
